The first octavo volume is a brief account book containing accounts for the period 1815 to 1817. The locality of the transactions recorded here is attributed anonymously to Sterling, Mass. Battles records transactions with Capt. Paul Bailey, Joseph Conant, Joseph Darby, William Fitch, Amos S. Holt, Moor Kendall, John Patterson, and Asa Spaulding. The second octavo volume is an index to an unidentified volume, possibly a lawyer's docket book, containing many entries.
